Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recording patient history.
  • Taking vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight.
  • Basic wound care including cleaning and bandaging injured areas.
  • Giving injections of medications and monitoring reaction to meds.
  • Entering information into computer systems.
  • Monitoring fluid/food intake and output.
  • Moving patients safely.
  • Observing patient mental health status and provide emotional support.
  • Assisting with daily needs such as bathing and dressing.
  • Ensure safe environment by following safety procedures.
  • Follow infection prevention guidelines.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must be actively state certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • CPR or BLS Certification
  • Wound Care Certification a plus
  • Competent in medical and hospital terminology
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training

Physical Capacities:

  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Continuous bending, squatting, twisting and reaching.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which includes an annual TB screening and physical examination.
  • Must be able to stand for and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires infrequent lifting of weight up to 100+ pounds with assistance.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of carts and transporting residents.
  • Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, elderly and/or emotionally upset, and/or memory impaired.
  • Must be able to manage resident behavior that includes verbal outbursts, combative behavior, striking out, and memory impairment

Environmental conditions: Inside work, normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, chemical exposure and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

BrightStar Care of San Francisco & Marin is looking for compassionate and dedicated Caregivers to join our team. In this role, you’ll provide vital care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, or those needing personal care assistance. Your responsibilities will include promoting client rights, offering direct care, and ensuring their safety and well-being.

Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver compassionate, personalized care to elderly clients.
- Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities and cognitive exercises to enhance their quality of life.
- Monitor and document any changes in clients’ conditions, and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and family members.
- Ensure a safe, comfortable, and dignified environment for clients at all times.
- Help clients maintain a clean and organized living space.
- Provide transportation to appointments or outings as needed.

Skills:
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks like transferring clients from bed to wheelchair.
- Knowledge of social work principles and practices.
- First aid and CPR certification (preferred).
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Requirements:
- At least 1 year of professional experience working with individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
- CPR Certification.
- Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray, and a clear physical exam within the last 6 months.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance for transportation cases.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
- Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, push, and pull as needed based on client mobility. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
